Mr. Vijay Bhaskar, from the Anantapur District, has inspired more than 50 acres of aqua farming in the draught hit Rayalaseema region. For decades, the farmers of Anantapur & other Rayalaseema district have been cultivating paddy, even though it consumes significantly more water compared to aqua culture.
Mr. Bhaskar returned to Anantapur, his hometown, in the year 2012 to take care of his mother & since then, discovered his roots in the age old practice of aquaculture. Mr. Bhaskar turned around his part of paddy field into aqua farm & dedicated his time in creating an ideal farm like none other in the surrounding areas.
“Nothing is wasted in nature; we only need to learn to tap resources properly. Now I am in the process of creating awareness among farmers, teaching them how to keep their fears aside and practice aquaculture. The district administration should encourage farmers to venture into such new avenues, in order to improve the economic conditions of farmers in our region,” Mr. Vijay Bhaskar said.
